We didn't want to leave Goldbug Hot Springs but we had to make it back to West Yellowstone to return our bear spray. Just outside of Salmon we found a neat little spot by a trout pond for a picnic

Most of the drive was in the desolate high desert between two fingers of a mountain range. We passed a few abandoned towns and an entrance to Idaho National Laboratories. I didn't even know of its existence but out there in the middle of nowhere is the worlds largest concentration of nuclear reactors including various research reactors. It was at INL that the first submarine reactors were developed. Nearby is Arco, Idaho, which became the world's first nuclear powered town back in 1951.

The final leg of our journey to West Yellowstone took us over a long stretch of gravel road that passed by a big ranch called the "Sheridan Ranch." When we arrived in West Yellowstone we were completely dust covered.

West Yellowstone was kitschy and crowded and there wasn't much outdoor dining to be had. We got carryout from "The Serenity Bistro" and headed into the Yellowstone one last time. This completed our circuit of Yellowstone and now we have seen all of the entrances.

We found a picnic spot by a stream and were lucky to see Elk crossing close by. Ironically, I was having Elk Medallions and Elizabeth was having Trout!

We wrapped up our last day in Yellowstone by watching the sun set.
