Our dining options had been a bit limited (thanks again Covid) so when we set out on Saturday morning we were really hoping to find a place that would serve us breakfast out of doors. Thank goodness for the Pahaska Tepee This is a great stop on the way to the East entrance of Yellowstone. It claims to be Buffalo Bill's original hunting lodge and a Buffalo Bill lookalike roams the property. We ate on the patio and watched the little ground squirrels go about their business. I got corned beef which the waiter described as "real, not from a can". While we were there, many bikers on their way to Sturgess stopped over for a bite. One guy had two dogs in his sidecar!

Well rested and fed, we were looking for some adventure. Karina bravely agreed to give horseback riding one more try. We went over to the Shoshone Lodge and signed up for the 10:30 am trail ride. Now keep in mind this is Wyoming so the process is very light on legalese. You pay your money and they take down your name. That's it; no waivers and not so much as a mention that horse riding may be dangerous. Did I mention that I love Wyoming ?

Anyway, we went over to the coral at the appointed time, the wranglers, all of them carrying by the way, matched us with horses and off we went. Elizabeth got "Moose", who looked suspiciously like a draft horse.

Karina got "Nugget", Mimi got "Barbed Wire" a bay and I got "Drummer", also a bay.

The ride was great fun but scary at times. There were several places where the horse had to pick its way down a steep slope or along a ledge. At those places, Karina and Nugget could be heard arguing loudly about the proper course of action! Two hours later we were all back safe and sound though some of use were walking a little funny!
